Gender Analysis for Nigeria’s Food Fortification Industry: TechnoServe

In partnership with TechnoServe, GlobalTone conducted a comprehensive gender analysis for the Bill and Melinda Gates funded IGNITE program, aimed at transforming Nigeria’s food fortification and processing sector.

Our analysis focused on identifying and addressing systemic barriers that hinder women’s participation and leadership in this critical industry.

The assessment explored cultural, structural, and economic constraints that limit women’s empowerment within the sector. By engaging with local food companies and key stakeholders, we identified capacity gaps and provided actionable recommendations to foster long-term behavioral change and economic empowerment for women.

Our findings informed TechnoServe’s strategies to enhance women’s economic empowerment within the IGNITE program, aiming to achieve a 40% target of reaching and benefiting women beneficiaries. The analysis provided a roadmap for advancing women’s participation and leadership, ensuring the sustainability and scalability of fortified food production practices.
